About Mackenzie Bray

Mackenzie Bray

Mackenzie Bray brings eight years of diverse coaching experience and a strong Division I playing background to her leadership in the game. She has coached at multiple levels, ranging from recreational development and private training to elite ECNL-RL competition. Mackenzie has been with Boise Thorns for the past three years, where she currently serves as the Program Director for Thorns ECNL-RL and head coach of two teams. In her director role, she oversees player development standards, helps shape the program’s long-term vision, and continues to mentor and develop athletes on the field.

Mackenzie began coaching at just 16 years old as a private trainer, where she developed a passion for helping players grow in confidence and technical ability. She later became the Recreational Program Lead Coach for the Germantown Legends, gaining experience in curriculum development and staff leadership before advancing into high-level club coaching.

As a player, Mackenzie competed at the highest levels of youth and collegiate soccer. She grew up playing in the ECNL with Davis Legacy in Northern California before beginning her collegiate career at the University of Northern Colorado in the Big Sky Conference. There, she earned First Team All-Big Sky honors, was named to the Big Sky Conference Tournament Team twice, and helped lead her team to a Big Sky Tournament Championship.

She later transferred to the University of Memphis, where she competed on a nationally ranked Top 25 program. During her time with the Tigers, Mackenzie helped lead the team to two American Athletic Conference Championships and contributed to a historic NCAA Tournament run that saw Memphis reach the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.

Mackenzie holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Business Management and currently carries a USSF Grassroots Coaching License. She is passionate about developing a competitive team culture and helping players reach their highest potential both on and off the field.
